The Solidarity Foundation is a registered non-profit charity based in various parts of India that supports sex workers as well as gender and sexual minorities. Since 2010, the year the Solidarity Foundation launched their pilot project, the Solidarity Foundation has expanded to multiple states and has taken various initiatives.
The Solidarity Foundation supports sex workers and gender minorities through institutional strengthening, leadership building, livelihood initiatives, and spotlighting overlooked issues. They stand out from other organizations as they proactively participate in the programs they support. The foundation also complements the work and donations of donors by reaching out to grassroots organizations and activists and providing them support in their campaigns and projects. The Solidarity Foundation operates on a national scale, but prioritizes its involvement on the frontlines of social issues. They focus their efforts primarily in South India, where their team has been leading projects and initiatives for years. They also plan to expand their work into other regions, where gender and sexual minorities expressed a strong need for a supportive initiative. A huge bulk of the work done by the Solidarity Foundation revolves around facilitating the flow of resources, ideas, and knowledge among various stakeholders: community organizations, corporate entities, professionals, practitioners, etc.
TamashaSD aims to raise awareness about the work being done by the Solidarity Foundation as well as the issues that the foundation hopes to solve. All profits and donations from TamashaSD’s cultural events and national dance competitions will go towards helping the Solidarity Foundation expand and making their resources more accessible to sexual and gender minorities in India.
